St. George

Our initial plans for Utah were to visit Zion and Bryce Canyon and then head to St. George for a few days of pool time and sunshine. However, the weather altered things a bit, and our stay in St. George was longer… and much more enjoyable, than we had originally planned.

St George is where Dixon State University is located. Every street or business had ‘Dixie’ in it, so naturally, our Dixon loved it here!

The art work, the historic buildings, the clean communities and friendly people… it all made this an amazing place to be!

We found so many family-friendly spots to entertain the kids. On our entire trip, we hadn’t yet paid for a single activity. We kept to national parks and filled in with the occasional playground or hike. St. George offered an abundance of the same.

We found a slot canyon that was so fun to explore! The kids attempted how far they could get without getting stuck, and we all climbed the edges of the space.

The botanical gardens were holding a free scarecrow competition, which was exciting to walk around! Many local businesses participated by decorating their own scare crows to display amongst the flora and fauna of the park.

The botanical garden also had a special surprise: A Haunted Canyon! The spooky cave included UFOs, clowns hidden in storm drains, eerie music, and spiders larger than our kids. It was a perfect way to celebrate Halloween while being outside!

We also enjoyed following the dinosaur tracks around the botanical gardens! This whole area used to be covered in dinosaurs, so the tracks have become an every day part of life. Cool huh!?

This was our first time to a ‘big city’ since leaving home six weeks prior. Our stop included hair cuts, restocking supplies, and even buying Halloween costumes.

And funny story: I learned not to eat the little fruit at the top of this cactus. The lesson came with about 200 prickles in my hand and lip. Haha! I don’t think I’ll ever live that one down from my family.

Our condo-sweet-condo was bright, roomy, and came with the COOLEST pools! There were four in total, one for everyone on the list! Water slides, indoor, a splash pad, a serenity pool w/ waterfall, as well as a basic pool. We tried out all of them in the warm days to come. It was the perfect way to spend the last week of October!

Thanks for following along. Next stop: Zion!
