Canyonlands NP

Our second day of Moab was spent exploring the Needles District of Canyonlands. This particular National Park is so large that it is split into three distinct districts, each separated by rivers and many miles. We joined forces with our friends, The Pools, to make this day even more memorable!

Elisa Pool is a fellow Regional Vice President with the company that I work with. As an RVP, Arbonne provides a monthly stipend to be used towards the payment of a white Mercedes. Elisa and her family recently traded in their family SUV for a Mercedes Sprinter Van, which they are using to travel the county. Since our paths crossed in Moab, our families were having so much fun together, and well… their van is SO AWESOME, we all decided to pile in for the day. One of the best days yet!!

Canyonlands provides a colorful landscape that offers caves, slick rock that seems to go on for miles, canyons, arches, desert and streams. The views change in each direction, and boy did we have fun exploring!

There were cowboy camps set up in caves, with fire stains and wooden ladders for us to climb. It was Heaven for our little explorers!

The caves even had hieroglyphics which were fun to search for!

The vibrant colors and diverse landscape were a photographer’s wonderland! We snapped photos as best I could as the gaggle of children played and enjoyed!

We made sure to spot our climbers as the elevation changed, and had a few tumbles. The first was Dixon who fell backwards down a ladder. It was a very scary moment, but after some time and a few bruised ribs, he recovered and was proud to show off his ‘sourviners.’

Once we were all safely on the top of the ladder, the rock opened up to some beautiful views!

One unique aspect of the Mighty 5 in Utah is that rather than using trail signs, they use these little piles of rocks to mark trails. It took us a while to realize why there were so many, but once we understood the purpose, we had fun looking for the next.

Traveling has opened our eyes, reminded us of what it means to take risks, and united us with so many amazing people who are doing the same. So thankful for our time with the Pool Family, and already looking forward to connecting back in Oregon.

Our drive back to Moab included great conversation and amazing views of the brightly colored aspens. We enjoyed a yummy BBQ dinner, followed by another late night of swimming. The kids all snuggled in bed and watched a movie as we reminisced on another day well spent!

Thanks for traveling along! Next stop: Capitol Reef!
